Please note that you have to become a member of Wilderness Union at www.wildernessunion.com to join our adventures.
We're going for a mid-week, 2 night front-country camping trip at Bruce Peninsula National Park, one of the most in demand campsites in Canada. The park is completely sold out for '24 already so, if you've wanted to visit - this is your chance!
The Bruce Peninsula is famous for its gorgeous limestone landscapes and crystal clear turquoise water. There's really nowhere else quite like it in Ontario. Nearby is one of Canada's most iconic hikes to the Grotto, a ridiculously pretty natural cave and swimming spot.
This trip is car-camping so it's an easy way to get comfortable spending a night outside in a tent. We'll be leaving first thing on Tuesday morning with a first stop in Tobermory to tour the famous town and eat their legendary fish & chips.
We'll then move on Cyprus Lake Campground where we'll set up camp and explore the trails. At night we'll all have dinner together and roast smores over a campfire.
Bruce Peninsula is a Dark Sky Preserve meaning that if the clouds are clear we'll be in for some truly incredible stargazing.
The morning after, we'll hike to The Grotto, those who want to brave the cold can jump in for a swim. Later in the day, you can explore the Bruce Peninsula or hang around the campsite to learn camp craft like starting a fire and hanging a tarp.
For our final day, we'll have a lazy morning at the campsite then check into nearby Lionshead for lunch on the beach.
Space is limited to 16 people so you'll want to reserve this adventure quickly. We've got spots for 12 people in the van for those who need lifts and another 6 people will be able to self drive.
This trip is suitable for all members and super affordable.

Wilderness Union is deliberate about building an outdoors community of people you'll like and creating a sense of belonging. Attendance numbers on Meetup don't reflect our actual event attendance - we typically have 15-20 community members at each event. Large enough that there's someone new to meet but small enough that it's not overwhelming!
- π³ Meditative Old Growth Forest Hike π§Toronto, Toronto, ON
Please note that you have to become a member of Wilderness Union at www.wildernessunion.com to join our adventures.
Escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with nature and yourself on this mindful hike.
We're taking you just one hour away from Toronto to one of the remaining intact forests in the Oak Ridges Moraine. This area is renowned for its oak forests and dramatic ridges created by glacial activity. We'll be setting out on an easy 7 KM trail that will take us through forest ridges, wetlands and meadows.
Be fully present with your surroundings, leave stress behind, and rediscover the calm within. As we set out on this journey we'll help you tune into the sights, sounds, and sensations of the natural world, including:
βNature Observation: Pause and observe the intricate details of nature, from the smallest insects to the grandeur of ancient trees.
βSilent Contemplation: At various points along the trail, enjoy moments of silence to reflect and connect with your inner self.βSound Meditation: Tune in to the sounds of the forest, from birdsong to rustling leaves, and use these natural rhythms as anchors for your mindfulness practice. The first half of this hike will focus on personal reflection, while the second half will more closely resemble one of our typical hikes, giving us an opportunity to share our experience with others.
This is an easy hike. We'll rest and eat lunch along the route, taking in the dense forest and critters that call it home.

- Toronto Island Paddle & PicnicToronto, Toronto, ON
Please note that you have to become a member of Wilderness Union at www.wildernessunion.com to join our adventures.
The absolute best way to experience Toronto in summer is on the water and there's no better place to do it than on the Islands. Toronto Island is a whole bunch of individual islands, separated by beautiful channels that carve their way in between them and make you feel like you're far away from the city. They're sheltered, making them extremely calm and the water is shallow enough that this is a safe adventure even for people with no prior experience. You'll cut through some of the quietest parts of the Islands and get incredible views of the city as we go.
We've reserved tandem kayaks and Stand Up Paddleboards (SUPs) that you can choose between and we'll explore the area together over a 2 hour paddle. Once we're done, we'll go to a secret spot with the best look-out over the city you'll find and even a little sandy beach for a picnic. We'll hang out together over food before returning to the city before sunset. Summer days were made for this!
The adventure fee includes kayak or SUP rental along with all safety equipment but not the ferry ticket. BYO food and drink for the picnic.
Guests are welcome and don't count against your guest passes.Itinerary
