What we’re about
Want to reconnect with Earth, eat healthy, get exercise, learn new skills, and meet great people? This is a group for folks interested in sharing knowledge on foraging and living from the land. All skill levels and ages are welcome. We hold a variety of classes for our members. The topics of these classes are chosen based on member interest and range from edible and medicinal plant walks to mushroom growing to cooking classes to tanning and primitive tool making. Fees for these classes will vary.
Due to the nature of our activities, some of our events are held in areas that are not accessible to those with limited mobility. This will be noted in the event description. We never want to exclude anyone from classes due to cost, so if you cannot afford the fee please contact the instructor to discuss barter or work study.

This class is designed to immerse you in wild foods knowledge. We will start with a gourmet brunch. We will have Wild Pancakes (acorn, dock, and cattail) accompanied by Wild Blueberries and Shagbark Hickory Syrup. Along with a Wild Greens and Mushrooms Quiche and Wild Mushroom and Herb Crusted Roasted Potatoes (with Wild Hot Sauce for the adventerous). And a wild brunch wouldn’t be complete without Homemade Maple Bacon and Chaga Lattes. Our meal will include no less than a dozen wild foods, many of which can’t be purchased commercially, even at specialty shops.
Along with the meal, we will have an introductory foraging lecture designed to introduce you to the basics of foraging and give newer foragers tips for success. We will also talk about plants and mushrooms to watch out for. There are hundreds of edible plants and mushrooms, but only a short list of things that you really need to stay away from. So if you know what those things are, even an inexperienced forager can forage relatively safely. And finally, we will take a short plant walk to learn some seasonal edible wild plants.
This class has it all. Lecture, hands on learning, and a meal to remember!

Use code WILLFORAGEMEETUP at checkout for 10% discount - Foraged Medicine BagWFfF, TIPTON, MI
In traditional cultures around the world, almost every group of people had a healer with knowledge of herbal medicines. And that healer almost always had a medicine bag of some sort. The style of bag and its contents varied widely, but the general concept is always the same- to have basic first aid necessities on hand and ready for use.
In this camp, you will be creating your own medicine bag. You will learn to work with a variety of foraged herbs to make medicinal salves, balms, tinctures, washes, teas, and compresses. These remedies can be used to treat a variety of common minor medical problems such as scrapes and cuts, burns, poison ivy, stings and mosquito bites, stomach and intestinal issues, headahces, muscle and joint aches, and minor coughs and colds. You will also make a simple, but functional, cinch bag to hold all of your new herbs and potions.
