This class is designed for those who are just beginning their journey into herbal medicine. Our goal is to introduce you to common herbs that are easy to find, easy to work with, and can be useful for a variety of applications. To give you the skills to make the herbal equivalent of the types of things you can buy off the shelf in the local drug store. We will alternate between lecture style and hands on activities. We will take a plant walk, where you will learn some basic plant identification skills and meet some of our local wild medicines. We will discuss the specific medicinal qualities of several commonly used herbs. And we will spend some time in the kitchen, where you will learn to make salves, tinctures, linaments, compresses, and more. Participants will keep the products that we make.
