What we’re about
William C Daldy Preservation Society is a volunteer group for maintaining and preserving the William C Daldy, Auckland's last steam tug.
Built in 1935 in Scotland, this tug is famous for saving the Auckland Harbour Bridge during construction in 1958. Powered completely by twin triple expansion steam engines , she is a heritage class vessel that is being maintained by public donations and any earnings through volunteer run charters on the Waitemata Harbour.
The meet up group is for anyone interested to join as a new volunteer. You do not need any maritime experience to volunteer onboard, you can learn through your volunteer activities onboard.
You can use the experiences onboard towards earning a QDC (Qualified Deck Crew Cert) or for your CV.
