What we’re about

We’re a friendly community-based club that meets weekly to learn and enjoy English Country Dancing, a form of social dance that is accessible and fun for participants of all experience levels.  English Country Dance offers beautiful and lively music, dances both graceful and energetic, and the company of friendly people. It's rooted in the historic dances of England and colonial America (think George Washington and Jane Austen), but it's also a living tradition with new dances being written all the time.

All are welcome; no partner, previous dance experience, or registration is required. We start with easier dances in our first hour (from 8-9pm) and work up to more complicated material (9-10pm), so if it’s your first time attending, we recommend arriving by 8. We meet at 710 South Henry Street (a big yellow house on the corner of Henry & Mimosa). Parking is available on Mimosa Drive, just south of Newport House.  (Signs say that parking is reserved for residents, but on Tuesdays we have special permission to park there).

Cost is $1/person, paid into the box at class, on the honor system.

Covid policy (effective 1/1/2024): As of January 2024 are no longer requiring masks, but reserve the right to reinstate a mask policy should covid numbers change. We do ask that attendees be vaccinated, and please stay home if you are ill.
