# Event Description:
Join us on 7 October for an evening of practical learning on building with AI and working critically with data. 🤖📊
Through two sessions, we’ll explore what it takes to build AI systems in practice and how we can strengthen our own analytical judgement in an increasingly AI-driven world.
## 🤖 From Prompts to Production: Building AI Systems in Practice
Evonne Ng, AI Engineer at HTX, works on Teammate, a conversational AI platform that enables Home Team officers to securely search their own files and build and share custom chatbots.
Evonne will take us behind the scenes of an AI Engineer’s role and share what goes into bringing AI systems from experimentation to production, including:
- Designing multi-step AI workflows through tool and agent orchestration
- Building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines
- Testing and evaluating LLM responses
- Collaborating across software, product, design and end-user teams
- Lessons from building Teammate, from data quality and prompt engineering to balancing accuracy, speed and cost
She’ll also share what it takes to keep learning and adapting as the AI landscape continues to evolve.
## 📊 Data Analytics & Storytelling in an AI-Driven World
AI can generate an analysis in seconds but how do we know whether that analysis actually makes sense?
In this beginner-friendly workshop hosted by Women Devs Singapore (WDS), we’ll explore how to go beyond accepting AI-generated insights at face value. You’ll learn how to ask better questions, critically evaluate findings, dig deeper into data, and develop conclusions you can confidently explain and defend.
You’ll hear from:
Zawanah Sainuddin — A data analytics and AI adoption practitioner who has helped leaders across five EMEA and APAC markets turn complex data into practical, decision-ready insights.
Aishwarya Elango — A software engineer with a geospatial and data engineering background who builds web applications and platforms that solve real operational problems for government teams and communities.
Whether you’re curious about how AI systems are built, want to become more confident working with data, or simply want to sharpen your technical judgement in an AI-driven world, join us for an evening of practical insights, hands-on learning and discussion.
