What we’re about
Women In Tech Birmingham will meet up regularly to support, empower, and promote women in the tech industry.
It's well known that women are underrepresented in tech:
- Just 19% of those working in technology in the UK are women.
- Only 15% of students taking computer science A-level courses are female.
- Only 5% of leadership roles in the technology sector are held by women.
- The gender pay gap is 9.6%
This needs to change.
Women In Tech Birmingham wants to:
- Support, encourage and inspire each other. We want to give everyone the confidence to achieve what they want in their careers.
- Challenge the stereotypes that discourage women from studying and applying for job roles in STEM.
- Fight the challenges that women in tech face every day.
- Promote gender equality in the workplace.

All women with an interest in tech are welcome to attend our events. We also welcome other minority genders in tech who want to attend, but the organisers recognise that, as cisgender women, we are not able to speak about the unique difficulties that non-binary or other gender diverse people face.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Women in Tech Birmingham are women-led and we will always strive to centre those voices and experiences - while we welcome questions and input from our allies, we also need to ensure that our members feel centred and empowered in discussions. We therefore ask that attendees abide by our Code of Conduct.
