Workshop description/summary

Thinking about participating in a Hackathon? Wondering what to expect before you attend your first Hack'n'Lead? Worried that you will be in over your head?

We invite anyone interested in participating at Hack'n'Lead, or any other hackathon, to join this webinar. It will help you find your feet in an event like a hackathon.

During the webinar, our moderator and women++ Board Member, Chris Gwillians, will share his experiences participating in and organising hackathons. Participants will get Chris's cheatsheet to survive a hackathon, including tips on preparing for it to working in a team to hack something that looks passable.

About the Speaker

Ph.D Christopher Gwilliams
Chris Gwilliams is also known online as 'encima' due to mistakes he made as a teenager that will now haunt him forever. Active primarily on Github, he also listens to music at every waking moment and obsessively tracks almost every aspect of his life. Has previously worked as a Technical Architect for ETH Zurich, University Zurich and as a Senior Solutions Architect at [Aiven.io](https://aiven.io).

Since this year, Chris founded a contracting outfit to consult on Open Source Software, primarily focused on data pipelines and storage systems. 70% of his time is dedicated to for-profit clients in order to fund 30% of his time to be offered at reduced/no cost to Non-profit Organisations, Academic Institutions or Charities.

Chris has been a board member of Women++ since 2019 and has since then been a key member in instructing participants in our initiatives, designing the architecture of these and supporting with strategic and key decisions/ funding to move the organization forward.
