What we’re about

I am curating a climbing meetup group for women age 30 and up!

After travel nursing as an ICU nurse, my now husband and I moved to Santa Clara from Colorado one year ago. As an avid climber and skier, I would like to bring together local women who are also interested in building community through our connection to climbing, and our love of the outdoors.

My intention is to provide myself and others a solid network of safe, reliable, self-aware climbing partners to foster healthy, empowering, honest, supportive friendships as we all navigate a crazy, post-pandemic world.

***PLEASE NOTE For everyone’s safety***

This group is not officially affiliated with any specific climbing gym or gym staff, and will not be teaching climbing classes or clinics. If you are interested in learning the basics of indoor or outdoor rock climbing, please see the gym’s website for introduction courses. This group is intended for individuals who already have a solid foundation in the fundamentals of climbing, which include:

1. Knowledge of climbing/belaying, climbing knots appropriate for gym (figure 8), climbing commands, use of ATC and/or GriGri at minimum.

2. Top Rope and/or Lead Certification and belay tag from whatever gym we are climbing at. Unless you have made previous arrangements with another group member or guest, please do not arrive expecting to use the meetup to get certified or learn the basics. This is for everyone’s safety and out of respect for people’s time and resources when committing to show up to a climbing session.

3. Rope management and climbing etiquette: appropriate slack while belaying, not skipping bolts, awareness of surroundings and other climbers on the wall, communication between climber and belayer using standardized climbing terms (“slack,” “clipping,” “rope,” “take,” “lower,” etcetera).

Thanks for participating, and feel free to send me a DM with any questions, concerns, feedback!
