About us

MAIN GOAL:

Together, let’s create a joyful, supportive space for all Women, where we can be our true selves. We want to create moments together that braid into the possibility of friendships. The goal is to have a meet-up available at least once a week. Come as you are—let’s have some fun!

WHAT IS THIS GROUP ABOUT, and WHO IS IT FOR?

Based in the Silicon Valley, our goal is to create a warm, inclusive sisterhood where women can connect, share, laugh, and support one another through friendship. Open to women of all ages, backgrounds, beliefs, and identities, this space is built on strength, authenticity, empathy, and kindness. Founded by Michelle Lee Walters—creator of thriving groups like Women’s Book Club and Multicultural Women’s Poetry—we aim to foster genuine bonds and collective wisdom. We hope to have a dedicated group of women, even if it is just one meeting a month, where you have the time to connect with us. I'm sure we all know life is hectic, which is why we need and deserve this form of self-care.

FORMAT:

The format will be very "informal" with a get-to-know-you round table, uninterrupted for a minute or so of sharing about yourself. Then I will introduce an opening thought question to get the conversation going, and, if needed, will offer more food for thought to keep it vibrant. We may even play a game or have another activity! As I have had the opportunity to meet some of you, Bold Women, you have a great amount of interests, hobbies, and knowledge. Then we will have closing thoughts, and somewhere in the middle of it all, a group photo for those who would like to be in a photo for our MeetUp site memories (If I forget this part, feel free to remind me).

WHY IT HATCHED:

In a digital world, it's more important than ever to nurture an in-person community. Here, we focus on building sisterhood—not on drinking or dating, but on connection, growth, and fun. We value equality, respectful communication, and the embrace of our differences with humility and grace. Whether outgoing or quiet, everyone’s voice matters.

LOCATION GUIDELINES:

Locations are to be determined as I research the best options. We’ll meet only where separate bills are available, or you can pay at the counter. When we meet at a restaurant, in order to respect the workers and the space, it is requested that each person order at least two items (food or drinks). The two-item minimum is truly a suggestion rather than a requirement or demand, because it is desired for the women in this collective to be in mature, healthy adult relationships, where we can consider each other's needs and create equitable relational spaces in which all feel they can easily step into. As we like to say, it is your presence that we desire, not anything more. Alcohol is optional— but not the main focus. Non-alcoholic options will always be available.

RSVP's/ Attendees

I will close MeetUp registration 5 days before the event. If we do not have at least four people signed up, I will cancel that event. You will see "EVENT CANCELLED" in the Title. I will also send a MeetUp message for the last call 6 to 7 days prior, and I will inform you if an event is cancelled.

A NOTE ON MEETING DAYS AND TIMES:

We'll test different days over the next few months—thinking Mondays and Fridays, but open to others. You can vote for your preferred days by attending on those days or by contacting me with suggestions, such as your preferred day and time, a specific event, a lounge, coffee shop, restaurant, or other location, a theme to base the meeting on, or an activity.

This group is very new, so your suggestions, support, collaboration, creativity, and interest are welcome!

GROUP RESTRICTIONS and GUIDELINES:

  • Come late, just know, your presence is all we ask. Travel safely and peacefully; we’ll be here when you arrive.
  • If you can't make it, please remove yourself from the reservation list. We understand that life happens.
  • No selling or marketing of any kind, please.
  • No pressure to celebrate birthdays or exchange gifts.
  • Use "yes, and" to build on what others say, rather than "but" or "no."
  • Be welcoming and inclusive of all members.
  • No cliques—everyone is valued for her unique self.
  • Come as you are—no need to be perfect; We don't believe in perfect, but we believe in all just as they are.
