What we’re about

The purpose of this group is social and outdoor activities primarily in the Spring and Woodlands areas. Events include hiking, kayaking, dinner nights, firing range trips, museums, indoor rock climbing, outdoor concerts, brewery visits, escape rooms, etc. Other ideas and event suggestions are always welcome.

Who should join? Anyone in the Houston area who is interested in exploring new places and meeting new people.

There are no fees for this group, and we are not affiliated with any business or organization.

Dennis Johnston Park, Spring, TX
Let's meet at the Dennis Johnson Park on the Spring Creek Greenway for a proper 6 mile hike - moderate pace and mostly shaded. The park officially opens at 7:00 am, so we’ll see about actual start once we’re there.

We'll go from Dennis Johnson to the dog park at Pundt and back. It's approximately 6 miles. I like to veer off onto the equestrian trails, so be prepared for a mix of natural and paved surfaces.

I'll be tracking it for time more that usual so we can return on time to make the Birding event with room to spare.

This is the coordinated hike I mentioned to do before hand for those wanting a bit more distance and better temperatures in the early morning.

If you like, we'll then head over to the Birding Hike event at the Spring Creek Nature Center that starts at 9:30 am.

Let's meet at the Spring Creek Nature Center for their Birding Hike event that starts at 9:30 am to 10:30 am!

"Join our resident aviculturist for a birding hike around the preserve. Suitable for the whole family. Don't forget your binoculars!"

It's their event, so I'll add more details as I find out more. In general, this center has fun nature-oriented events we've enjoyed in the past and a nice permanent exhibit to take a look at.

I willdo a coordinated hike before hand on the nearby Spring Creek Greenway at Dennis Johnson Park and then head over. More later in it's own event.

Experience free Concerts in the Park at Northshore Park on Sundays from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. during the spring and fall. With plenty of space to spread out and relax, Northshore Park is one of the most popular and scenic parks you’ll find in The Woodlands. Concerts in the Park are free and family-friendly. Picnic baskets, coolers, blankets, and lawn chairs are welcome.

September 7 - Shosty (2000's Tribute)

We'll meet in the northwest corner of the park near the restrooms. The parking lot fills up early but additional parking is available at Whole Foods.

Terramont Park, The Woodlands, TX
Join me in using the disc golf hills for some natural surface elevation training, I.e. walking up and down the hills. Usually just shy of a mile total with 15-20 stair equivalents in elevation.

Probably will stretch, then do as much as I can do for the first the hour on the hills. Likely then stretch afterwards as well. Nothing too sophisticated.

Short-ish walk then along the backwoods and then paved paths around the area for about 6 miles starting at 7:45 AM if you'd like to join in then and skip the hills!

There are facilities at Terramont Park if needed!

I'm thinking ahead to some time around Hot Springs in the hills of the Ozarks in September and prepping as best I can.
