Hike: Caddo Mounds and Mission Tejas State Park

Details
Let’s explore area around the Davy Crockett National Forest with visits to the nearby Caddo Mound State Historical Park and Mission Tejas State Park. The state Park has limited access due to construction, but we can get a taste of it and then visit the state historical park.
I'm assuming people will be trickling in today (Friday), so just call or text me if I'm not back at the Ratcliff sites on your arrival.
Caddo Mounds has scheduled visits with or without guides;it's a small area but I will post more about details. There's a $5.00 fee and plenty of information to enjoy on our own.
Let’s hike, do a picnic lunch and kayak if we can at Ratcliff!
Hike:
TBD at MTSP: there are some nice hills that run among former logged-out land with forests that have been re-growing since the 1920s and a few landmarks to hit if available.
Moderate pace, around 2.2 -2.5 mph, to take about 3 hours total if enough trails open. Should be loop-able and you can adjust time and length as you see fit! Just be sure you have maps or apps and are comfortable navigating on your own.
Please proceed at your own paces and have fun!
We can picnic and paddle in the afternoon as well to enjoy the recreation area fully after our visits.
Ratcliff Passes:
There is parking and facilities as we will be using day pass access. Small fees for day use at this national park. The trail also crisscrosses forest service roads for possible loops or if special circumstances arise.
Caveat: We’re all amateur enthusiasts, so no guarantees or formal responsibilities implied, but please join us for some fun outdoors!
Temperatures will vary, so be ready for cold or rain!
I would recommend insect repellent, too, and sunscreen. Carry plenty of water and snacks as well.
Semper preperavit!
This is part of a weekend camping meetup nearby, but all are welcome! Be sure to double check for changes, but we’ll do everything we can to stick to the plan.
