Hike: Montgomery County Preserve Out and Back

Details

Nature trail hike along Spring Creek from the Montgomery County Nature Preserve Trailhead. An "out and back" for 8.4 miles or so along shaded and natural trails. It's a nice blend of views of the creek and wooded areas if new to you!

Bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent and a poncho or umbrella in case of rain. Walking sticks a good idea but trail doesn't have many "features", so not necessary. I have spare if you want to borrow some. Driving shoes are a good idea, too!

We might need to improvise depending on the trail conditions. The preserve is full of options, so we'll keep it to the timing and as close to the distance as possible. I am open to suggestions at any point as well; no ego is invested in the route! As is, should be around 3.5 hours of hiking plus break time with some leeway.

Most of these paths are pretty navigable, but there may be moments off trail, so be sure to have good shoes and be in good enough shape to skirt downed trees, handle the summer heat, etc.

As always, speak up at any time if you need accommodations or have any questions. If you are really faster or slower, be prepared to navigate with your own resources.

Caveats: this is not a professional organization, but rather a gathering of like-minded outdoors enthusiasts. No formal responsibilities or liabilities are implied.

Courtesies: Update your RSVP status! Please don't sign up if you are tentative and be sure to cancel if you change your mind. We don't want delays from no-shows. It is totally acceptable to show up (on time) on your own rather than the opposite.
