Sea Rim State Park

Quick weekend visit to another state park on my slow quest to visit them all. Will hike around park and neighboring opportunities and explore as per usual.

Saturday will be arrival day, hike around Park trails and beach. Sunday probably beach walk or another local hike at the many wildlife options.
Kayak options, too, with two routes provided by the park. See trails maps below.

Hiking options include:
Texas Point National Wildlife
Refuge and nearby Sabine Woods Sanctuary Trail for a combo of about 5.5 miles
or
McFaddin NWR and Beach
or
Anahhuac NWR/Jocelyn Nungaray NWR

Sea Rim itself is...on the sea rim amidst marshy areas, so they want you to know to be expecting....mosquitos!

Plus, site is open to the sun. I'll have my canopy to get us some shade, too! Bring fans or coolers of some sort for tent and even lounging outside.

Caveats:
I am by no means a professional guide, so please be responsible for your own safety, be prepared to navigate on your own, and be physically able to enjoy the hiking.

All levels of experience welcome, but be sure to inform us beforehand of any accommodations or particular interests and we'll go from there. I have no ego involved in the route or pace, so just keep me informed if you are faster or slower than the main body of the group or have other suggestions.

Weather:

Average weather is pretty warm as summer begins. , but be prepared! Temps usually range from mid 70s at night to high-80s daytime. Overcast or mostly cloudy about 40% of the time. Thunderstorms and lightening possible, so watch the weather forecasts!

Recommendations:
I always recommend plenty of water, snacks, sunscreen & insect repellent as a start.

Check out hiking guidelines online for other suggestions if you are new to hiking or need a refresher. I would download the map and/or have a paper back up if you are cautious, too!
