About us
Hi and welcome to WordPress Cambridge #wpcbg
WordPress Cambridge is a monthly Zoom Meetup for users, designers & developers to pool their knowledge, experiences and techniques. Traditionally we run on the second Monday evening, UK time, of the month. Voted the 8th best meetup in town by a Cambridge Business lounge poll. However, our August and December meetups are at a local Cambridge pub, as there is a small WordPress community around town.
Every meeting is an open discussion where everyone is free to share their experiences, knowledge and solutions. Often Chris or Simon introduce the topic, just to get the discussion started. Then participants take over. Questions are great, and hopefully someone knows a solution. Ideally, everyone leaves with a greater knowledge of WordPress.
We also have a code of conduct to ensure our meetings are friendly and welcoming to everyone who wants to attend. Please check it out!

Using AI Tools for WP Zoom Mon June 8th 7pm UK Wordpress Cambridge
·OnlineOnlineDear All,
Mon June 8th we'll discuss and share how to use AI tools for WordPress 6.9 website development. Yes, WordPress 7 contains AI tools, and that is probably July's discussion topic.Four regular attendees have volunteered to share their experiences:
- Prompt and experiences requesting ChatGPT codex to create a complete 1 page website,
- How AI created a small plugin,
- How AI generated code, and
- How to use AI well.
Quite where the discussion goes depends on who rolls up.
AI may generate:- theme code,
- child theme code,
- a shortcode,
- a block,
- custom CSS,
- JavaScript,
- PHP snippets,
- functions.php edits.
Of course, AI-generated code should be treated like junior-developer or worse like my code, The result can be useful, fast, but requires review. But how? Maybe we'll discuss the security checks that we ask AI to include by default when it writes WordPress PHP?”
So getting the prompt right might include:
- the exact WordPress version,
- PHP version,
- the active theme name
- elevant plugins, and
- ask it to cite WordPress developer documentation,
- ask it to avoid deprecated functions,
- ask it to explain compatibility assumptions.
