Building your WordPress Site from Scratch in 2025 (Part 1, In-Person/Hybrid)

Part one of a two-part series that covers beginning through advanced topics for the WordPress enthusiast, you'll have your site up and running immediately with an understanding of where to go next when we're done.

In part one, we'll start from scratch with the following basics:

1. What is WordPress, and why should you use it?
2. Finding a WordPress host for your site;
3. 'Spinning up' your website;
4. Choosing an approach (picking a theme, plugins, etc);
5. Building a 'One Page' Site or a basic four-page blog with Full Site Editing; and
6. Tools for learning more (What is Learn WordPress?);

Series requirements
To successfully build your website with us, you'll need to have the following:

• WordPress Hosting Account;
• Domain Name; and
• Content - 1) An introductory or overview paragraph about your site (up to 200 words briefly describing your site, blog, or services); 2) Text for About Us and Contact Us pages; and 3) Logo (graphic or text) and menu

What this session/series is NOT

• You want to implement or troubleshoot an advanced feature; or
• Need assistance fixing an existing site or premium theme issue(s).
