About us
Something special happens when we write together and read our raw material out loud. We show up differently to our craft, and to each other.
Every 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month from September to June, we meet in person to write in English for an hour following a prompt (or doing our own thing), and read what we wrote for 2 minutes each.
Since it’s first drafts, we don’t do critique. Instead we offer reflections: Did something stand out? What made you feel something? What left you with a question?
How a session unfolds: After you grab a drink or a bite (this gives us access to the space), we do a round of check-ins around a question of the day, introduce the session’s prompt, and get writing. We save 45 minutes for reading and reflections.
New and experienced writers welcome, in any genre and at any level of English.
The group is hosted by Brune Smith, a writer, editor and storyteller. She’s helped people write books, ran live storytelling events during her years in Canada, and facilitated over 100 writing sessions for an Oregon-based writing center. Her job here is simple: hold the space, keep the time, and make sure everyone gets heard.
First session is free, membership is €100 for the year.
