Gabriela Kozyra (http://bit.ly/2pjbS48) is originally Polish and comes from a family of musicians of mainly vocal traditions. She studied jazz voice at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Later, she continued her master studies in Brazilian music at the Rotterdam Conservatoire Codarts. She has given concerts all over Europe and Brazil and has been involved in various projects and appeared in many festivals and venues.
Born in the North East of Brazil, 7-string guitar player, arranger and composer Luiz Morais (http://bit.ly/2ql51FC) has been playing the guitar from a young age. Immersed in the vibrant Brazilian musical culture, he built his strong musical foundations playing rhythms such as Samba, Choro and Bossa Nova as well as the iconic North Eastern rhythm of Forró. Luiz Morais brings to the UK his debut album "Nascente" (“Rising”), which is entirely his own composition.
Tickets are available at the Tuned In London website (http://bit.ly/1WZfz9j). Sands Films is a 2 minute walk from Rotherhithe Station. Many are those who have never been here and remark how quick and easy is the journey!!
The venue is a deliciously sumptuous sofa-filled home-crafted cinema like none other, housed in a beautiful building oozing the history both of the neighbourhood and of costume creation. Even the loos are like none other in London!! Uniquely again, a ticket entitles you to free tea/coffee. Stronger stuff is available at the riverside Mayflower Pub, only a few cobble stones away. Sands Films is an inspiringly intimate place to hear fabulous music.
"one of the most remarkable venues I've ever seen" wrote Barlas Tan Özemek, who performed here on 10th May!
