Lara Eidi with guest Alice Mary Jelaska
Details
"Music can bring light where there is darkness. In the right hands, it becomes magic. Lara Eidi is those hands." - Fiona Ross, Multi-Award-Winning Jazz Artist.
Singer and composer Lara Eidi presents a rare and intimate performance exploring the musical landscapes she calls home: Greece, the Levant, and the West. Spanning over two millennia of song, the programme journeys from the ancient Seikilos Epitaph and the musical legacy of Al-Andalus to Irish folk traditions and Eidi's own original compositions. Drawing on four years of artistic exploration, she approaches these works not as historical artefacts, but as living songs—reimagining them through her distinctive voice as a songwriter, pianist, and composer. Through evocative arrangements and storytelling, ancient melodies, folk traditions, and contemporary songwriting intertwine, revealing unexpected connections across cultures, languages, and time. The result is an intimate evening exploring memory, migration, identity, and belonging, allowing voices from the past to resonate within the present.
For this special performance, Lara is joined by singer, clarinettist, and composer Alice Mary Jelaska as a special guest. Marking their first collaboration after meeting in January, the two artists share a fascination with music's ability to traverse seas, borders and centuries - drawing together echoes of folk traditions, forgotten stories and distant homelands. With Jelaska's ethereal voice and clarinet weaving through the programme, the evening promises a rare meeting of two musical worlds united by a spirit of curiosity, connection and wanderlust.
