Chicago Wrestling Club -- Upcoming Tournaments

From: Peter H.

Now that the renovation of our practice floor is done and we are back wrestling at Quads, it's time to focus on upcoming tournamnts.

First up are the Folkstyle Nationals in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Weigh-ins are Saturday afternoon, March 31 and wrestling is Sunday morning, April 1. Last year we took 10 wrestlers and emerged with 5 champions, by far the best showing of any veterans club. Let's try to repeat our success this year.

You can find details at the following site:

http://www.themat.com/events/default.php?page=default&EventID=26033

You must register online. When you register there is a field for team name. Please click on the drop-down and select GREATER CHICAGO WRESTLERS, which is the name we use for tournaments (we get a few wrestlers from the Chicago area who are not part of the Chicago Wrestling Club.)

If you plan to wrestle in this or even if you are just considering it or have questions, please reply to me so I can help coordinate driving and lodging.

In conjuction with this tournament, on the same weekend and same location they are also holding the final qualifier for the US Olympic Trials.

The next tournament on the schedule is the Chicago Wrestling Festival at Navy Pier on May 12. As was the case the last 2 years, our club will be running the freestyle division, which is open to adults and high scchool students. We will need both volunteers and wrestlers.

Two other tournaments you should know about:

Veterans freestyle and greco US Nationals, Tucson, Arizona (I am not doing this one).

Veterans greco and freestyle World Championships, Szombathely, Hungary (I will be competing).

Any questions or comments, please reply to me or call me at[masked].
