Important registration note
RSVPing on the meetup page does not register you for IndiaFOSS 2026 or guarantee entry to the conference. To attend the devroom in person, you will need to register for IndiaFOSS separately through FOSS United.
This event listing is here so Write the Docs India members can track the devroom, submit proposals, find other interested folks, and stay updated as the programme takes shape.Date, time, and attendance
The date and timing listed here are tentative. The devroom may happen on 26 or 27 September 2026, and this page will be updated once the final schedule is confirmed.
Attendees will need to attend in person in Bengaluru as part of IndiaFOSS 2026. Livestreaming or remote viewing may be possible, but that has not been confirmed yet.About the devroom
This devroom is for people in and around Write the Docs India who are interested in documentation, technical writing, open source, developer education, information architecture, contributor experience, docs tooling, accessibility, localisation, interactive documentation, and the changing role of AI in documentation work.
The goal is simple: bring docs, writing, and FOSS folks into one room, talk through the devroom, and help more people submit strong proposals.
Last year, the FOSS in Science devroom helped kickstart the SciPy India community. We’re hoping this devroom can do something similar for Write the Docs India: create a clear meeting point for people who care about documentation and technical writing in India, and use IndiaFOSS as a way to bring that community together. You should follow this event if:
- you are thinking of submitting a talk
- you have a rough talk idea and want help shaping it
- you work on documentation in a FOSS project
- you are a technical writer, engineer, maintainer, educator, developer advocate, designer, student, or contributor interested in docs
- you want to meet others in India who care about documentation and technical writing
First-time speakers are very welcome. Your idea does not need to be polished before you submit. If you have worked on something useful, learned something the hard way, or seen documentation shape how people use or contribute to a project, that is a good starting point.
Please bring:
- a talk idea, if you have one
- a project, docs problem, workflow, or community experience you might want to speak about
- questions about the devroom or CFP
- interest in helping revive and grow the Write the Docs India community
This is also a chance to understand who is active across cities, starting with Bengaluru, and what kind of WTD India meetups or events we should plan after the IndiaFOSS devroom.
