Writers' Group at Cafe Bohemia -Wednesday Nights, 7:30-9pm

This writers' group meets every Wednesday night from 7:30 to 9pm at Cafe Bohemia in Plano, TX.

If you have a story to tell, a poem to recite, or "spoken word" to be heard, this is the group for you. Each week you will hear and share new stories, poems and creative pieces from writers, poets, artists, comedians and others like yourself.

In a nutshell, the rules are simple. [1] Keep to the time limit (5 minutes), [2] share a new piece (that you wrote) each week, [3] be respectful of one another's time and opinions, [4] stick with language that is PG, and [5] pretty much any topic is acceptable. Though, we do ask that if your content is highly "adult" or sensitive (such as extreme violence, rape or child abuse, etc.), please give a bit of a "heads-up" in case someone wants to step out.

Please note, this is a relaxed, open-minded and diverse creative forum. It is not, however, a platform to promote your religious or political views, or to sell your products or services, no matter how amazing or important they may be.

Our group is a great place to present your work without fear of judgment or critique. This is definitely not one of those writers' groups that requires feedback and encourages other members to rip your writing apart. Our group is more about having fun with your creativity and sharing in one another's unique writing perspectives. If you would like an opinion on what you present, the members will be happy to give it, but critique will only be given if solicited. (Note: If you want more intensive "critiquing" from members whose opinions you respect, we encourage you to chat at the end of the meeting, after everyone has had the opportunity to share their work.)

We do not charge a membership fee to participate in the group. However, we encourage you to support Cafe Bohemia by spending about four or five dollars on something to eat or drink. If you aren't hungry or thirsty, maybe you can find a gift item to purchase for some upcoming special occasion.
