Orlando Word Lab

Details
This is a writing workshop that will focus on learning a new technique or method each month. A guest speaker will share a sample of their work and then give a writing prompt for everyone to follow.
We'll all write for 30 minutes, and then share our work with others, and receive helpful suggestions about what to improve. Bring your laptops, tablets, or notebook and pen and a willingness to learn.
We will meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month.
This month, we're going to hear from Jessica Hatch on digital-first publishing.
Digital-first publishing is the new kid on the block, taking advantage of today’s electronic tools in order to blend (mostly) the best of trade publishing with (mostly) the best of self-publishing. Don’t miss out as freelance editor and novelist Jessica Hatch breaks down the pros and cons—and helps you understand if this publishing model is right for you.
Jessica Hatch is an award-winning freelance editor and novelist. Her debut novel, My Big Fake Wedding, was published by Bookouture in August 2022. Jessica has had bylines in Writer’s Digest, The Millions, and G*Mob Magazine, among others. Before being acquired by Bookouture, her debut novel won a pitch slam at the Brooklyn Book Festival in 2018 and was workshopped by acclaimed author Rumaan Alam at Aspen Summer Words in 2019. You can join us at the Winter Park Public Library in the 2nd-floor meeting room. We will not have a Zoom option tonight. Sorry!
