Orlando Word Lab

This is a writing workshop that will focus on learning a new technique or method each month. A guest speaker will share a sample of their work and then give a writing prompt for everyone to follow.

We'll all write for 30 minutes, and then share our work with others, and receive helpful suggestions about what to improve. Bring your laptops, tablets, or notebook and pen and a willingness to learn.

We will meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Winter Park Public Library.

This month, Trevor Fraser will talk to us about Active Research: How to find the interesting things you're not looking for. We will cover how to develop ideas based on available sources and interview techniques. It's a must for anyone who writes nonfiction.

Trevor Fraser is a business reporter at the Orlando Sentinel, specializing in real estate and housing. He has worked in Central Florida journalism since 2003. He is also an award-winning spoken word artist and will talk comics with you for unbearable amounts of time.
