Details

This is a writing workshop that will focus on learning a new technique or method each month. A guest speaker will share a sample of their work and then give a writing prompt for everyone to follow.

We'll all write for 30 minutes, and then share our work with others, and receive helpful suggestions about what to improve. Bring your laptops, tablets, or notebook and pen and a willingness to learn.

We will meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month.

This month, Andrew Robinson is going to teach us about From First Idea to Full Story.

Using various mechanisms to build a story from a small kernel of an idea. Creating a list, writing a single short story or series of them, growing that into a screenplay or stage play, and finally writing a full book.

Andrew was the regional director of Central Florida for the Florida Writer's Association, and the president of Cricket Cottage Publishing, LLC, which he sold a few years ago. He now leads the Orlando/Maitland Chapter of the FWA. Andrew has written several novels, including Lexa and the Gordian Maze of Terra and Lexa and the Smugglers of Cyclo, both published by Amira Press in the early 2000s. He has also written several screenplays and sketches.
