Details

This is a writing workshop that will focus on learning a new technique or method each month. A guest speaker will share a sample of their work and then give a writing prompt for everyone to follow.

We'll all write for 30 minutes, and then share our work with others, and receive helpful suggestions about what to improve. Bring your laptops, tablets, or notebook and pen and a willingness to learn.

We meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month at 7 PM at the Winter Park Library.

This month, Ross Ellison will teach us about Writing Antagonists as Characters.

Antagonists are an important aspect of any story. But in so many tales, this character tends to be more of a plot device than a living, breathing person. In this workshop, Ross will showcase just how to bring an antagonist to life, using the very same strategies one might employ to create a protagonist. It will also clarify the difference between villain and antagonist.

Ross Ellison is an author, entertainer, video game streamer, and all-around Menace To Society. Living in Orlando, Florida, he currently is working on far too many projects to name. He used to write exclusively dark fantasy but has dared to branch out into travel blogging. The one consistency within all his work is a dark vision that showcases the real-life hell that mental illness creates in daily life.
