Orlando Word Lab

Details
This is a writing workshop that meets on the 4th Wednesday of every month at the Winter Park Library. We focus on learning a new technique or method each month. A guest speaker will share a sample of their work and then give a writing prompt for everyone to follow.
We'll all write for 30 minutes, and then share our work with others, and receive helpful suggestions about what to improve. Bring your laptops, tablets, a notebook and pen, and a willingness to learn.
This month, we will hear from Ian Kay on How to Build Your Story Premise.
Do you have a story you've always wanted to tell? Or maybe you want to start a new one, from scratch? Ian can help you plan it out.
In this meeting, we'll walk through the steps of building a strong premise for your next story... in just one (seemingly simple) sentence. You'll learn how to create the protagonist, antagonist, motivation, conflict, and antagonism. All with that one (seemingly simple) sentence!
By day Ian is a writing professor at Valencia College, with hundreds of 5/5 reviews on RateMyProfessors. By night, he's a dad. And whenever he finds a spare moment? He researches story structure!
