Intro
We're going to hike 21+km on the Hoge Kempen, with heather and hills, sand extraction lakes, and open forest and a surprise for first timers, so with reason part of a vast Belgian National Park.

Start and assembly location
We start from the former station Eisden, now a welcome and friendly buffet for finishing the hike with usual drinks and snacks.
There is sufficient car parking space available nearby.

By car
Participants will arrive by car at the station Eisden carpark (Spoorwegstraat 10, 3630 Maasmechelen), .
Travel time Bxl to Eisden by car approx 1h20.
Please be on time as
We will leave at 10:30.

Car sharing
Feel free to rent a car and share the cost, it's worth it.

By train and other public transport
Not possible

Dogs, cats, other animals
Please notify me if you bring an animal. I will allow one dog per hike. On spring time the dog needs to be mostly on a leash.

The hike and your preparation
This 21+km hike will take approx 6 hours, including necessary breaks. Bring-your-own-lunch, as we will be not close to catering of any kind.

The weather forecast suggests cloudy, with some goodwill from the sun., 21 °C. There is mention of possibility of 0mm rain. Anyway make sure to carry enough water, a hat and sun cream.

Optional swim
At 30+ min from the car park we will encounter a lake, and there will be some time to go for a swim.
Needles to say all your actions are at your own risk, but it is summertime-ish so the water temperature should be do-able.
