This is an advanced/expert no drop ride. You will need a weekend for this trip. 15 miles with 2500 ft of climb and it takes 4h to ride with rooty flow trails, bridges, drops and wooden technical trail features. You can ride or walk around drops and some technical features. This is a loop with ability to cut the ride in multiple spots to make it shorter if you don't want to do 15 miles. We will take small breaks and one lunch break. I would highly recommend to get a hotel or campground spot for a night or two.

PLAN:

  • Friday May 15 - drive and stay at the hotel 30min away from trail ($120/night with breakfast - DM me if you would like info to stay at the same hotel).
  • Saturday May 16 - 12pm meetup and ride for 4h. Drive home or stay at the same hotel. Going out for dinner and drinks.
  • Sunday May 17 - stop by at another trail (TBD) on the way for 2h ride and then drive home.

The ride will be cancelled if the weather conditions are poor or if the trails are wet/muddy.

Fountainhead Regional Park is a challenging mountain biking destination trail in Fairfax County Virginia.
The Green loop includes rooty flow trails, bridges and 12" drops.
The Blue loop includes rooty flow trails, bridges, drops and wooden technical trail features.
The Black loop adds advanced expert only rock features in a tight twisty terrain with 4' drops. The entrance to the Black look is a qualifier for riding the Black loop.

This is a "bike at your own" risk, but we suggest bringing a wrist band or something with emergency contact information written on it. Everyone must wear a helmet to ride.
