This is 9.3 miles! It takes about 4.5 hours with a 30 min stop for lunch at the pinnacle. Please be prepared as safety is your responsibility.

This popular loop offers incredible views of Lehigh Valley and the surrounding ridges. With a moderate difficulty, this trail is approachable by most hikers, even some older children. Located just an hour and a half drive from Philadelphia, this trail can get very crowded on warm weekends, so arrive early.

Although mostly moderate, there are steep sections that may be difficult for some hikers. Also, the trail can be very rocky, so good boots are recommended. The hike can be done in either direction, but most hikers choose the counter-clockwise route mapped on this page.

From the trailhead on Reservoir Road, you’ll start going northeast on the Appalachian Trail. After a steep final push, you’ll reach Pulpit Rock. From there, continue northeastward on the Valley Rim Trail / Appalachian Trail. You’ll soon reach The Pinnacle.

After taking in the views, continue westward on the Pinnacle Trail. You’ll then take a left onto a blue blazed trail, that leads you back to the Hamburg Reservoir.

The address for the trailhead is:
400 Reservoir Rd
Hamburg, PA 19526

We will discuss an after drink spot closer to the date.
