Y Adventures: Yunnan Lijiang + Shangrila

Situated in Southwestern China, Lijiang sits at an elevation of 2,400m and has a range of temperature from 0ºC to 25ºC throughout the year. The world famous Old Town of Lijiang is located in Lijiang City and is a UNESCO Heritage Site.

The town has a history going back more than 800 years and was once a confluence for trade along the old tea horse road. The Lijiang old town is famous for its orderly system of waterways and bridges. The old town of Lijiang differs from other ancient Chinese cities in architecture, history and the culture of its traditional residents the Naxi people. The town was ruled by the Mu Family during the portions of the Ming and Qing Dynasties, a period of nearly 500 years.

Our adventure gets us out to a 2D1N trek on Tiger Leaping Gorge while enroute to Shangri-La. We drive up to Zhongdian at 3,250m to enjoy more mountain views, peaks, grasslands while experiencing Tibetan culture. Be spoiled by the food and cosy accommodations of our hosts.

Final stop on this Yunnan adventure is the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is another natural wonder called Tiger Leaping Gorge, a 3790 meters scenic canyon from river to mountain peak, on the Jinsha River (Golden Sands River), a primary tributary of the upper Yangtze River. It is part of the Three Parallel Rivers of Yunnan Protected Areas World Heritage Site.
