What we’re about

We will practise guided breathwork, guided meditation and relaxation!

This is a great opportunity to go into the subtle body and limbs of yoga, (especially great for teachers who would like to practise together and begin to take these elements of the practise into their asana practises.)

Each week we will begin with nadi shodhanam and build into longer sequences.

Here is some basic infos about what this is all about:

"Alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodhanam) is a simple breathing exercise that purifies the nadis, or subtle energy channels in the body. It balances the flow of breath in the nostrils and the flow of subtle energy in the nadis. The physical body is built around the subtle framework of the nadis and is sustained by the flow of pranic energy through this network.

Patanjali, the sage who codified yoga science around 200 B.C., explains that the control of prana is the regulation of inhalation and exhalation.

This practice quietens the mind and regulates the breath by establishing slow, even breathing without a pause between inhalation and exhalation.

The three principle energy channels flowing in the spinal cord are ida, pingala, and sushumna. The ida and pingala channels correspond with the feminine/lunar and masculine/solar natures.

By balancing these energy channels, sushumna, the central channel, can be awakened leading the mind to stillness, joy, and meditation."

Sounds awesome, right? plus afterward you feel incredibly peaceful with heightened sensory awareness.
