What we’re about
This group is designed to connect parents of young kids with friends of similar ages and life situations. In addition to the obvious benefit of getting the kids together to make friends and socialize, I felt there was a need in our community for this group.
As a father of three kids under 5 and a husband to a stay at home mother, I know how difficult parenting young kids can be. Especially in this area, where many young families have moved away from their support structure and now have few friends and little support. If you have young children, you fully understand that it can easily become the entirety of your life. Depending on your job, and certainly if you're a stay at home parent, your interaction with adults can narrow to the few moments you spend at the checkout line in the grocery store. The goal here will be to make relationships with people who you will stay in touch with off of this platform and experience life together to minimize the loneliness and boredom that can result from spending your time cooped up in your house with just the kids.
I'm sure you got it from the above text, but this group is for families, not just the kids. Anyone under the age of 18 would need to be supervised by a parent over the age of 18. Kids socializing is important, but parents socializing is just as important!
Perhaps I may be wrong, but I currently anticipate more mother's joining this than fathers, so I may eventually turn over this group to my wife as the host, but since she currently has her hands more full with the kids than I, the natural choice was for me to start this and try to get the ball rolling. My family and I look forward to meeting y'all.
