Highlights of the Festival
The Thunder of the Great Odaiko Drums 🥁🔥 The highlight of the night is the sound of Japan's largest drums. The deep, heavy rhythm is designed to ward off evil and welcome the gods 📸✨ The vibration of the drums is so powerful that you can feel it in your chest, creating an atmosphere of raw, spiritual energy.
Mystical Procession of Eight Mikoshi 🏮⛩️ Starting around 6:00 PM, eight grand portable shrines depart from the shrine's main gate. Illuminated only by lanterns, the shrines are carried by thousands of energetic participants shouting in unison 🌙 This "Darkness Festival" preserves the ancient tradition of moving the gods under the cover of night, creating a breathtaking and powerful sight.
The Energetic Approach through Keyaki Trees 🌳💨 The historic avenue lined with ancient zelkova trees becomes a river of people and passion.
