NOTE: This evening of meditation and comedy actually begins at 6:00 with our vegan potluck party (see meetup.com/Zen-7 (https://www.meetup.com/zen-7/events/241297934/)).
Buddhist comedian Frank Miles ( http://premierespeakers.com/frank_miles ), Tuesday host of Dharma Punx in Hollywood, will deliver a motivational talk full of comedy and Buddhist wisdom touching on recovery and leading a passionately meaningful life.
Frank hosts Refuge Recovery Tuesdays at Los Angeles' Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society (againstthestream.org) on Melrose Ave. Together with Gary Sanders, Rain Dougherty, Jordan Kramer, Vanessa C., and Christian Elder, he is a long time friend of Seven and PasaDharma supporter.
Have you ever been scared to death? Frank was once "scared to life." He died in a hang gliding accident and was revived by emergency room doctors.
Courage -- he suddenly realized -- isn't facing death. It's facing life.
After a full recovery, he left the safety of his career and embarked on an adventure. He employed his performance skills to demonstrate the lessons he'd learned about overcoming fear. Using comedy, music, and magic, he creates startlingly beautiful visual metaphors to get his message across.
