Dharma Jewel Monastery is a Zen meditation center and Buddhist temple in Atlanta led by monastics (fully ordained monks and nuns) under the direction of Chung Tai Chan Monastery in Taiwan.
The Beginner's Zen Meditation Class is led by fully ordained Buddhist nuns and offered separately in both English and in Mandarin Chinese. Spring 2025 course is Tuesdays at 7pm in English and separately in Chinese. Sign up at dharmajewel.us
Little Jewel Children's Meditation Class on many Sundays at 10am. Great for kids around ages 5 - 12 to learn mindfulness and compassion! Register in advance.

Dharma Jewel Monastery, Atlanta's Zen Buddhism Center, invites you to discover yourself through inner reflection and Zen meditation!
Our guided meditation and semester long sequential fundamental concepts of Buddhism class is held weekly. Classes are led by dedicated Buddhist monastics who have years of meditation experience and rigorous training and devote their entire lives to authentic Zen practice. Courses are offered at no charge. Everyone is welcome.

There is also a monthly Vegetarian Cooking class. Free, but advanced registration is required.

Only meditation class participants are eligible to attend one, two, and seven day Zen meditation retreats, as well as Zen kung-fu martial arts classes. All activities at Dharma Jewel Monastery are free.
Buddhist Ceremonies monthly on Sundays at 9:15am - 12:15pm: Each year, we hold several, including Buddha's Birthday Ceremony, the Medicine Buddha Gratitude Ceremony, Guan Yin Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara Blessing Ceremony, Compassionate Samadhi Water Repentance Ceremony, the Diamond Sutra Ceremony, Chinese New Year / Lunar New Year Blessing Ceremony, Buddha's Birthday Vesak Ceremony, the Great Compassion Mantra Repentance, and more. All are welcome for the mindful Sunday services, which are largely chanting based in Chinese with English translation and bilingual instructions. Free vegetarian lunch follows.

Our next Dharma Jewel Veggie Festival will be TBD with free vegetarian food lovingly cooked by volunteers and ordered from award-winning local Taiwanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Malay, Asian, and American restaurants such as VeGreen Vegan Fusion, Herban Fix Vegan Kitchen, VeGreen Burger, Mamak Vegan Malaysian, Vegreen 2 Go, VeGreen Noodle, and Cafe Sunflower! Thanks for coming out and we hope you continue to show compassion and leave animals off your plate.

Guided Meditation Sessions, open to all
Sundays at 10am in 2025: 5/25, 6/8, 6/22, 7/6, 8/3, 9/14, 9/28Everyone is welcome for these one hour beginner's open guided meditation sessions - come for one or all of the sits! Introduction to Zen Meditation Course
2025 Spring semester Tuesdays at 7pm
Separately in English and in Chinese -
All are invited! The course is weekly for four months and is a sequential, cumulative class. Meditation methods include Breath Counting, Mindfulness of the Breath, Loving-Kindness Meditation. Lecture topics include Introduction to Buddhism, Mindfulness, Karma, Causality & the Four Noble Truths. Completion of the Beginner's course allows progression to the next level of classes and eventually to the sutra study group. Participation in this class is a prerequisite for our monthly Zen meditation retreats and Kung Fu Zen Martial Arts classes.Little Jewel Children's Meditation

Children's class will be on weekends and includes story-telling, arts and crafts, and fun games. Appropriate for ages around 5 - 12.
