**Abstract**:
Is the "quantum apocalypse" imminent? Will quantum computers overpower conventional encryption methods? The advent of quantum computing presents enormous opportunity, but at the same time is a threat to today's **cybersecurity**. To address this problem, current cryptographic standards are gradually being replaced with quantum-safe algorithms and critical components of communication systems are being replaced with quantum-secure communications. In an approachable manner this seminar will highlight vulnerabilities of contemporary cryptographic systems, discuss classical and **quantum remedies** and equip you with basic quantum apocalypse survival skills.

**Bio**:
Aleksandar Radovanovic is an electronic engineer, **computer scientist** and author. He obtained his Ph.D. at the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town. He is a founding member of the **King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia** where he worked as a computational scientist for the last 10 years. Aleksandar is the author of numerous scientific publications and the book "**Quantum Programming Illustrated**". He is now based in Cape Town where he is starting up a Quantum Computing Institute.
