Memoir Writing Circle for Women of Color

Details

Ever wanted to chronicle the story of your life? Join us for the launch of a memoir writing circle for women of color!

None of us have ever written a memoir, but each of us have stories, perspectives, and experiences that we feel compelled or inspired to share through the written word. We’ve found that it can be difficult to sustain our commitment to a writing practice, and to muster the courage to tell difficult truths, without the kind of loving support and gentle accountability that can be found in a circle of women who are facing similar challenges. This circle is rooted in the simple but radical idea that our lives matter, and that our lives, our relationships, our families, our communities, and our nation as a whole can be transformed by the act of telling our truths and sharing our stories.

We’ve chosen to create a support group specifically for women of color because we understand that race, gender and sexuality have defined our lives to a large degree, and that few safe spaces exist where we can share the complexity of our experiences. Although we know that we will sometimes make mistakes and fail each other, we're committed to creating a circle that is welcoming of our whole selves.

Join us on Saturday, Feb 8 at 3 PM as we write, connect, and create a vision for a powerful circle of writing support and accountability.
