The .NET User Group Zürich is very happy to welcome Szymon Kulec to Zürich as part of a small Swiss .NET user-group tour! 🇨🇭💜
Szymon is a software architect, performance engineer, trainer and speaker who has been working with .NET since its early days. Today he is Lead Developer Advocate at RavenDB , and if you have ever been interested in what happens when you stop treating .NET as “just an application framework” and start pushing the runtime hard, this session is for you.
## 🎙️ Is it still C#? Practical systems programming with .NET
### War stories included!
> We built a database in .NET and pushed the runtime to its absolute limits.
> In this talk, we'll dissect the engineering decisions we made, extracting hard-won lessons you can use to build truly high-performance software.
> Expect battle-tested techniques you can apply to any demanding .NET service — even if it's not a database.
During the session, Szymon will take us into some of the less-travelled corners of high-performance .NET, including:
JSON and Beyond
The Memory Game
Taming the State Machine
Beyond the Cache Line
Vectorize Everything!
Surviving the Ecosystem
Expect around 50–60 minutes of deep technical .NET , engineering lessons, performance war stories and plenty to discuss afterwards.
## 🗓️ Schedule

## 🤝 A Swiss .NET community collaboration
There is a nice story behind this meetup.
Szymon's visit has turned into a small tour across the Swiss .NET user groups, with several communities working together to coordinate dates, travel and events.
A huge thank you to Daniel Marbach for initiating the idea and coordinating the tour, and to Urs Enzler, René and our fellow Swiss .NET community organizers for making it possible.
And for the Zürich stop, a particularly big thank you to Cédric Mendelin, Damien Bowden and the whole isolutions team for supporting the community and welcoming us into their Zürich office. ❤️
This kind of collaboration between local communities is exactly what user groups should be about.
## 📍 Venue
isolutions AG
The Circle 38
8058 Zürich
The office is located at The Circle at Zürich Airport , with excellent train, tram and bus connections.
## 👋 Who should come?
If you work with .NET or C# , build high-performance services, care about memory and allocations, enjoy digging into runtime behavior, or are simply curious about how a production database pushes .NET to its limits, you should find plenty here to take home.
And, as always, developers of every experience level are welcome.
Come for the .NET internals.
Stay for the war stories and the community. 🙂
See you on September 23!
