Join Zürich Wine Academy for an unforgettable sensory exploration: Food and Wine Pairing Masterclass. Gain insights into why certain food and wine combinations work while others don't.

Through a guided wine tasting and food pairing session, you will understand the basic components of both food (acids, fats, proteins etc.) and wine (acidity, alcohol, tannins etc.) and how they interact with each other. This will help you make better choices when choosing wine in a restaurant or creating memorable dining experiences at home.

Led by Joanna Abendroth, DipWSET, a passionate wine expert, this immersive experience takes you deep into the realm of flavour, texture, and aroma. The selection of wines from all over the world will be matched with different food samples aiming to help you understand the food and wine pairing principles and discover your own palate preferences.

No prior experience required. Note that small bites will be provided, but a full meal is not included. Plan to eat a meal before or after the Masterclass.

Course Policies:

Attendees must be over the legal minimum age for the retail purchase of alcoholic beverages in Switzerland. Cancellations must be communicated via email to info@zurichwineacademy.com up to 15 calendar days before the start of the course for a full refund. If the cancellation is communicated after this period, the student will lose the right to a refund.

Joanna Abendroth, DipWSET | Weinakademiker candidate

Born and raised in Poland, my journey with wine began among the vines that grew around my family home. While our homemade fermentations were modest, these grapes sparked an enduring passion for wine.

Originally obtaining degrees in political science and linguistics, in 2016, I began a new chapter in Switzerland, knowing little about Swiss wines. Determined to deepen my understanding, I immersed myself in wine culture, from participating in grape harvests to pursuing WSET courses. Today, armed with a WSET Level 4 Diploma from the Austrian Wine Academy, I proudly contribute to the Swiss wine industry working as Zurich Store and Events Manager at Terravigna and as Lecturer at Zürich Wine Academy.

As a wine educator, I strive to make wine approachable for all, rejecting snobbery in favour of inclusivity. I navigate the dilemma of exploring unfamiliar varieties or enjoying my beloved classics. My Instagram @feelyourwine serves as a platform to share my love for Swiss wine and expand wine knowledge.

When not immersed in the world of wine, you can find me finding peace in yoga or beneath the stars, camping under the open sky.
