Welcome to the L. A. Foodies+
Let's enjoy some good wine & cheese & fruit on a mountain top while watching the setting sun. Or enjoy a gourmet potluck picnic in the Santa Monica mountains and maybe take a short hike before or after the meal. What about a hosted wine tasting event where we each bring a bottle of wine and we do a blind taste test. Or how about a battle of the Scotches or Martinis or Margueritas? Perhaps a Sunday brunch Meetup with an Omelet specialist making omelets to order. Or maybe someone has a talent with crepes or French Toast... Korean BBQ anyone? Sushi?
Foodies Give Back! Volunteers purchase food, prepare, cook and serve dinner to 60 homeless shelter residents. We served chicken teriyaki skewers, shrimp spring rolls, rice, veggies & fresh strawberries over whipped cream and shortbread cake! Both the residents and the volunteers loved this event! So let's share some great food and drink together with new friends and come up with a unique location or a hosted event at a members home. We've held potluck events on a yacht, in Griffith Park, Potluck, poker pool party BBQ in Bel Air... Our LA Foodies+ group ROCKS!
I named this group the L.A. Foodies+ group and the PLUS was added so that we wouldn't be limited to only food and only at restaurants. I love events that involve several of the human senses. Taste, touch, smell, sound as well as your mind.
If you'd like to host a unique and special Foodie/potluck/restaurant/workshop/cooking/cocktails event, please email me.
Would you like to host an event for our group? Piece of cake, just email Darrell and let's plan an event. Of course, the more special you make it, the more members will show up!
If you are interested in helping out with the creating of the Events and wish to be one of our Event Hosts or Assistant Organizers, please email me.
How to RSVP
1] Usually the choice is Yes or No. Maybe's tend to be No preventing people who really want to attend from getting a seat at the table. This is why we usually avoid allowing Maybe excepting for large or unlimited events where the number seats are not restricted.
2] If you RSVP Yes, we expect you to show up. Usually our events fill up and several people would like to attend if you cannot, so as soon as you find out that you cannot attend, please be sure to UN-RSVP so that another member can get a seat at the table. If you are a NO SHOW or LAST MINUTE CANCELLATION THREE TIMES, you may be suspended for a period of 30 days or longer.
3] Waiting List - There's two kinds of Wait Lists. Manual and Automatic. I personally use Manual most often because often at the last minute if someone cancels, the notice is too short and the person on the Auto Wait List doesn't get notified and then the host might ding that member for being a no show.
4] Guests - This depends on the Event Host, some allow guests, others do not. I personally usually allow only one guest or no guests because if the member is a no show, so are the guests and if there are a lot of guests, that can really mess up the event. So if you want to bring a bunch of friends or family, please have them join our group. This way, they will receive the email reminders, location info and meeting contact info and there will be less no shows.
The whole object of this group is to have fun, share some great food, dining and cooking experiences with others who share our love for good food and to meet some new friends.
