Photo Contest and upcoming Lighting Workshops

Hello fellow Students of the Outdoor Lighting Workshops,

It was a special honor to work with all of you this last weekend at our Lighting Workshop at the Scottsdale Civic Center. Please post a thank you note to our models: Rebecca, Maddie and Anastasia and my assistant, Charity for their hard work to make our Workshops possible and create the best environment for learning your craft of Photography.

Setup and Reference Shots:

Hopefully you each took reference shots as a way to remind yourself of the lighting setups we worked with on Saturday, Feb 11. Those of you who did, I am going to include group and lighting setup photos in our Photo Contest. So stay tuned for the full details of the Photo Contest, coming soon!

Send me Your Best:

In the mean time, please send your best photos to [address removed] for review. I will post the best images in our Photo Galleries, in preparation for the Contest. Also, if you enjoyed the workshop and would like to attend more, please include your comments. It helps me fine tune the curriculum.

WWII Vintage Aircraft and Retro Fashioned Models:

Ever wanted to visit or revisit the 40's? Well, we are going to do exactly that. Sometime in May, 2012 we will be spending a day at Falcon Field with our Models dressed in retro 40's style. You will bring your cameras, Speed Lights and reflectors and we will learn how to light and photograph Vintage WWII Aircraft, tastefully adorned by our beautiful models. These will be photos you can send home to your Moms and Sisters. Imagine being able to recreate an era and have the photos you take for your Portfolio.  I will be taking a Poll for the best Sunday in May to recreate some history. This is a workshop you won't want to miss!

Last year, I began an adventure into Lighting for Hollywood in the Fifties. Maddie Rose, one of our models from our Feb 11 Workshop and I and a few other students, recreated a Movie Poster for Audrey Hepburn's movie, Roman Holiday. We will be learning these techniques in upcoming Workshops!

March 24th Workshop:

Our next Outdoor Lighting Workshop will convene on March 24th at the same Location, Scottsdale Civic Center. We will revisit the techniques we learned on Feb 11 and we will expand into the wonderful world of Gels on Speed Lights. Each Workshop will build on and expand from the prior Workshop, so you will want to attend them all and polish what you learn. Remember, Practice Makes Perfect and you will only become proficient, if you get out there and shoot. What better way to learn than, hands on!

Note: The March 24th Workshop will be limited to 16 photographers, four per Model, so book your reservation now before we are sold out! See you on the 24th!

Sincerely, David
