Spread Sunshine is a social and philanthropic society of fun-loving, compassionate and whimsical women who celebrate life with a positive outlook and sunny disposition. Our members foster friendships, kindness and giving through various social and charitable activities.

Each one of our Sunshine Gals brings something beautiful, interesting, and charming to our group. We are proud to be a society of unique women from all backgrounds, talents and interests. You never know what adventures we’ll plan next.

All of our social events and philanthropic projects are completely voluntary. Members are free to choose which events/projects they would like to be part of. Members are welcome to add any event/project to our calendar as an assistant organizer. Thank you to those who have already stepped up as organizers.

Assembling gifts for charities is a fun and important element of Spread Sunshine! Some of our projects consist of crafting and collecting gifts, then donating them to homeless shelters, the elderly and anyone needing a little ray of sunshine in their life. Many of our talented members handcraft items including bags, hats/beanies, scarves, jewelry, teddy bears, dolls, toys, blankets, holiday items, cards, and much more. We will post our projects and the ways you can help. We will also post a wish list of items that you and others outside our group can donate for our projects. Store bought items are welcome too. This is a great way that members who aren’t crafters can help with our causes.

We love recycling and re-purposing and appreciate donations that we can use to create our special handmade gifts. All donations must be clean and from smoke free environments. Yarn, fabric, clothing, jewelry, beads, card stock, and most craft & sewing supplies and tools are always needed and appreciated.

We also collect donations of the following NEW & LIKE NEW items (from non smoking environments!) for our projects:
purses, bags, backpacks, stuffed animals, used books (inspirational, fiction, non-fiction, children’s, coloring, teen, etc.), small toys, goodie bag fillers, new toiletries (samples, hotel, etc), new toothbrushes, new cosmetics, new combs, new crayons, small pads of paper, pens & markers, new baby items, new socks, and anything appropriate for a gift bag.

If you have a charity close to your heart, please let us know! We would love to support as many charities as possibly. As long as we have enough volunteers and donations, the more people we can help. Please join us and lend your talents!

Our group color is yellow, but you can wear any color you want to our meetups. You will usually find me wearing yellow to make me easier to spot at our events and to show my Sunshine Gal spirit. I welcome you to show your spirit too, it adds to the fun and whimsy of our group. Even wearing one yellow accessory counts! Anything yellow that is worn is called Frippery, our special word which is defined as: showy finery; finery in dress, especially when gaudy, frivolous, pretentious, or the like. How fun is that?!

Sunshine Gals love flowers, gardens and nature. Our group flower is the Sunflower, which represents happiness, beauty, strength and friendships. Lemons will always have a special place too as we believe that "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade!" Lemons will also honor our beginnings as Lemon Blossom League, which has now formally blossomed into our bright sunny society, Spread Sunshine.

I am very proud of the level of enthusiasm of our group and with its growth and progress. I am grateful to be surrounded by such caring, positive and strong women such as you! Thank you for being a part of Spread Sunshine.
