Writer's Group Meetings

Hi All,

I look forward to meeting you at our next Writer’s Group meeting, Tuesday May 15 at 7 p.m.  I just wanted you all to be aware of some library policies and procedures that may affect your group.  We are a public building and any meeting that takes place in our building must be open to everyone.   We also have some rules in place to regulate behavior so that everyone can enjoy meeting here.  For example, we do not allow the collection of names/addresses/contact information.  So if two members of the group wanted to exchange contact information between themselves, that is fine, but no one should ask everyone for their information.  This is for everyone’s safety and privacy.

Also, everyone is expected to act in a civil manner.  If you have a group member who is disrespectful or abusive, please let me know as soon as possible.  When behavior rules have been broken, we can take steps to limit an individual’s presence, we just have procedures we have to follow in order to do that.  An important part of a writer’s group is a feeling of trust among members and if that trust is being compromised, the library can help restore it.

I wanted you all to know this because although you are “self-governing” you’re not on your own, I am here to support you as you need it.  Also, as it may come up either online or in person, opinions expressed by a member of the group do not reflect the opinions of the library.

See you Tuesday,

Amy Blue
