The North Side and Evanston Writer's Group Pages

All members are welcome at all of our meetings. The group is primarily designed for writers to improve their writing, either to help them get published or for the inherent reward of making a piece of writing better. This group is for members of all skill levels. However, work shared is generally by dedicated, serious writers. Other groups, geared specifically for beginners, have the advantage of being able to help everyone, to some extent. Yet, critiques are often disoriented, frequently leaving the experienced writer dissatisfied. On the other hand, groups which only include published authors or nearly published authors provide detailed, useful feedback. However, members of such groups are very different from the people who will end up reading the final published work.

Our group offers the best of both worlds. Serious writers, who may wish to get a work published (who may or may not be published already), can expect detailed, honest yet respectful critiques of their work. Since our group welcomes members of all skill levels, writers are more likely to receive critiques from members of their target audience.
