Beer & Board Games

Hey All,

The Beer and Board Games group will be meeting at the Landing in Crystal City. It is located next Subway. Typically, around 30 to 50 people will attend.

This group is very beginner friendly, so if you don't know any of the games provided, be prepared to learn a new one. You are also welcome to bring your own games. People trickle in and out throughout the night so if you show up late, just wait a bit for other games to finish or for more people to show up.

Lately, there has been a serious chair shortage at The Landing. If you have your own portable chair, I recommend bringing it.

The Process:

Folks come to the event either empty handed or with board games to share. The games available vary from event to event.

People place games near one of the pillars in the food court area, which then becomes the game 'library' for the group. Members typically mill around this area until they find enough people to play something mutually agreeable.

After finishing a borrowed game, place it back where you found it, in the same condition you found it in (pieces in bags, all decks secured with rubber bands, etc). If you decide to leave your game in the game library, please make sure the box is identifiably yours. Many titles are popular and there might be more than one copy of a game at the same event.

Parking in the building is free after 4pm. If taking Metrorail, it is the Crystal City stop.

Directions from the Metro:

If you're taking the Metro, exit at Crystal City. When you come up the first set of escalators, turn right to enter the underground shops and then turn right after a brief walk. Continue straight and The Landing will be the large open seating area on your right, next to Subway.

Parking:

If you're driving, garage parking is free after 4 pm. Enter the garage for 1750 Crystal Drive on 18th Street and take a ticket. (You'll need this to exit, but there's no charge). Take the elevators up to Level S. The Landing is the large open seating area next to Subway.

If that parking garage is full, exit the garage and turn left on 18th and left again on Crystal Drive. A second parking garage is located on Crystal Drive between 18th Street and 15th Street.

The Beer & Board Game group will be meeting at the Western Market food hall in DC(2000 Pennsylvania Avenue NW #3500, Washington, DC 20006).

There are a variety of food and drink options. Western Market is allowing us to use the space for free. Please reciprocate by purchasing something, even if it is just a soda.

The official end time of the event is 7pm. However, people are welcome to stay until 9pm.

Directions

If you're taking the Orange, Silver, or Blue line, exit at the Foggy Bottom metro station and walk two blocks to the east. If you are taking the Red Line, Farragut North is an approximately a 15 minute walk away.

There is also a limited amount of free street parking to the north.

Hello again! After a long hiatus, the Monday meet up at Nanny O’Briens is back! We’ll have some games to play, but feel free to bring your favorites as well. Stop by for a game and a drink, and say hello! We’ll be in the back room.

Other info:
Nanny O'Brien's is allowing us to use their back room for some board game socializing. Please reciprocate their generosity by purchasing food and drinks.
Free street parking starts at 6:30 in most areas (make sure to read the signs). If you're taking the metro, take the red line to Cleveland Park and walk two blocks southwest on Connecticut (we are located next to CVS).

NEW GAME LOCATION at The Board Room

Let's play board games. Not the ones your ancestors played but the really cool ones of the new millennium. We play everything from fun, social games to light to heavy strategy games.

Don't know how to play? Not a problem - we're happy to teach. It's a great chance to learn new games or play your favorites with non-competitive people who like to laugh. You can build a railroad, eradicate a plague, or explore the far reaches of the galaxy in one evening.

While many will bring their own games, you can show up gameless and still play.

We play at the Board Room in Clarendon on Wednesday from 6:30-10:00. It's within walking distance from the Clarendon metro. Find us in the secluded room to the right. If that room is reserved for a private event, look for us on the the far left side.

We're very fortunate to have this great venue for our game nights and they take care of us for 3-1/2 hours, so please spend a minimum of $5 on food or drink and tip generously (at the very least $2, even if 20% of your bill would be $1). Thanks!
