About us
Boston PHP is the largest education-focused Meetup in New England with more than 3,700 members.
We have been meeting since 2002 and typically meet monthly on a Wednesday at Wayfair in Copley Square. We discuss a wide range of full-stack development topics related to PHP.
While our in-person meetups focus on full-stack development related to PHP, our member engagement strategy offers services beyond in-person meetups. Our mission is to engage all members in continuing education efforts. For example, we have developed 12 virtual self-study groups that are conducted during the down time between in-person Meetups. The following groups are managed by volunteer members (Senior Percolators):
Agile Appetizer
Angular Stew
API a la Mode
AWS Snack
Blockchain Lo Mein
Drupal Diner
Git Lunch
HTML5 Brunch
jQuery jAM
PHP Percolate
Social Side Dish
WordPress Dressing
More than 230 members have completed at least one of these courses and are enshrined on our Self-Study Group | Wall of Accomplishment.
In addition, more than 280 members receive job postings from other members via our Boston PHP Job Board (beta).
We are looking for leaders to join our continuing education efforts. Learn how you can participate.

Agile Appetizer, Season 8
Virtual, Your home | Your work | Your space, MA, USNarrowing the skills gap, one chapter at a time.
An agile project manager plans, leads, organizes and motivates agile project teams. Even if you do not aspire to become a project manager, you've likely been a member of an agile work team, or will sometime in your career. Season 8 will introduce you to the fundamentals of project management, either as a participant, or as a team leader.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) helps current and aspiring project professionals build their skills so they are equipped to solve the toughest challenges now facing people, organizations and the planet.
PMI offers free, interactive courses. Agile is one discipline within the project management profession. (Waterfall, aka predictive, is another approach.) Simply review the free course offerings and commit to completing one (or more) free self-paced training during the month of March. Here are four courses to consider:
- Practical Application of Generative AI for Project Managers
- Generative AI Overview for Project Managers
- Talking to AI: Prompt Engineering for Project Managers
- PMI Essentials M.O.R.E. Maximizing Project Success
Upon successful completion of any of these courses you will receive a PMI badge that you can post to your LinkedIn account and share on social media.
Why Obtain a Certificate (or badge)?
The majority of HR professionals rely on certifications during the hiring process. Why? Many don’t have the grasp of technical skills necessary to thoroughly evaluate candidates, so they need a third-party source to certify skills. [ Source: Dice ]
