All,
There is a chance that we might put a meeting together on April 26 or 29th for HipHop for PHP...

I am telling you this now so you have time to plan if you can attend. We have a great presenter lined up, but we are trying to scramble and find a suitable venue space considering the short notice. This is an unusual circumstance where we have a chance to have a presenter that is capable on giving us a talk on this great subject. However he is traveling to Boston just for this event.

Look for a more formal announcement on this on Monday or Tuesday.

Background:
Ever wonder how the world?s largest and most active social media site can scale to meet the demand of over 200 Million users. Did it ever occur to you that FaceBook is written in PHP? The secrets were revealed recently from FaceBook developers as HipHop for PHP.

HipHop for PHP is a source code transformer. HipHop programmatically transforms your PHP source code into highly optimized C++ and then uses g++ to compile it. HipHop executes the source code in a semantically equivalent manner and sacrifices some rarely used features ? such as eval() ? in exchange for improved performance. HipHop includes a code transformer, a reimplementation of PHP's runtime system, and a rewrite of many common PHP Extensions to take advantage of these performance optimizations.

This presentation would give you a good overview of HipHop and how you might potentially use it for your high demand web applications.
