Hello, Annyong, !
Welcome to the new members.  This is a quick update for everyone in the meetup group:
Tech event: The New Media Tech / Social Web (I'm an organizer) has an event tomorrow: Startup Rockstars #9. One of the presenters, Tweetion, is going to demo their iPhone app for Twitter that does 2-way language translation.  Koeran is one of the many languages supported by Tweetion.  Other presenters include FitFeud (dieting/wellness challenge).  You can RSVP on the event page or just show up.  Light food & beverages provided.
Korean exchange student: Amy Coello, a volunteer from Education Travel & Culture wrote to say they are looking for a host family or host person to host one of their Korean exchange students.  They are looking for someone that can host her for either 2 months, 5 months or 10 months.  "She is 16 years old and she is looking to come in August 2010 and stay til June 2011.  She comes with her own finances and they only ask the family for a safe environment, bed to sleep in and three meals a day.  We are looking for host families or host persons that their first language isn't Korean, but English is spoken in the home, she learns English and they get to brush up on their Korean! There is a local coordinator that will be there 24/7 and be in charge of her activities and anything that might arise.  Also the family will receive a charitable tax donation for hosting!"  If someone is interested they can contact Amy directly [masked] or email [address removed]
Kpop: Vanilla Lucy is a new electronica band: four women, a singer plus 3 others who play saxophone, violin and cello.  First song is Flying Girls (bihaeng sonyeo) ( ) (YouTube video)
Events: Korean Language Lesson & Learning (Sunday, with other groups joining), Fiesta Asia Street Festival in Downtown DC! (May 22),  Korean Movie: MOTHER (Director: Bong Joon-ho) with Won Bin and Kim Hye-ja (June 6)
The first news story below is about Spa World, where we will be having a meetup in the future.
