As some of you know, I also organize other meetups. And through one of them, The DC Film Co-Op
, we're going to make a short movie in this month's DC 48 Hour Film Contest
from April 30-May 2, 2010. We have a great team, with directors, actors, screenwriters, camera & audio people, and other (amateur) volunteers. We're meeting tomorrow night in Arlington to do some planning. Contact me
(reply to this email) if you're interested, or join the meetup group if you're not sure right now. We especially need hair & makeup volunteers, and musicians.
The DC Korean Film Festival 2010
continued this weekend, and we have an event on Friday night Korean Film: Dream (Bi-mong)!
. The movie has a special interest for me, as it's similar to a movie concept that we're working on (contact me if you want to read it).Adoption:
A recent radio show on international adoption may be of interest to some people in the group, and some of the comments written relate to Korean adoption: The Diane Rehm Show April 14 - International Adoption
(click on the "Listen" link in the upper left side to listen online). At 24 minutes into the program a caller who adopted a child from Korea called into the program, and she described how Korea uses foster programs instead of just orphanages, and also attachment issues.
And the state of Minnesota has one of the highest number of adopted Koreans per capita, documented in a new book about the 10,000+ adoptees: HERE: A Visual History of Adopted Koreans in MinnesotaKorean News & Blogs:
